The St Francis Youth Group welcomes kids in Junior & Senior High School. We meet weekly on Sunday mornings at 9:30. In addition to curriculum, we plan for service events, fund raisers and have discussions on how Christ and the Episcopal Church fits into our daily lives.
Service Projects: The Youth group at St Francis Episcopal Church has volunteered with the Children’s Miracle Network telethon, provided gifts for the Salvation Army Angel Tree, rang the bell for the Salvation Army Red Kettle drive at Christmas, volunteered for numerous outreach programs through KVNE Christian radio, and sponsored a back pack drive where 25 pack packs were provided to students at an elementary school in our neighborhood.
Fundraisers: We participated in the annual “Souper Bowl” for caring which happens each year on Superbowl Sunday. The monies raised went towards a local soup kitchen and food bank. We also held a pancake breakfast and a hot dog dinner that the youth did the cooking and serving. The monies raised were used to help victims of Hurricane Sandy and to help a local family who lost their home and possessions in a house fire.
Summer Youth Program: Each summer the Youth Ministry at St Francis participate the Summer Youth Program (SYP). This program runs from mid-June through July on Wednesday evenings. It’s an opportunity where our youth perform different outreach projects at local non-profit agencies and then come together to share a meal. The SYP program ends each year with a pizza and bowling party.
Social Activities: Throughout the year, the Youth Group participates in a number of social activities including the "End of School" celebration, cookouts, pizza and bowling night, trip to the pumpkin patch, and outings to Christian concerts, sporting events and amusement parks.
Per Diocesan requirements, a signed permission and release form must be signed by parent/guardian. Click here _ to print form.
